- Abstract:
- The pollutants removal efficiencies and operating characteristics of PVC composite mem-brane were investigated in pilot-scale experiments based on the combined process of coagulation,sedi-mentation and PVC composite membrane for purifying the polluted source water in northern China. Theresults showed that the total coliforms were not detected in membrane effluent,the effluent turbidity was0. 054 NTU on average,and the average removal rates of PVC composite membrane for CODMn,residualaluminum ion and algae were 27. 4% ,68% and 99% ,respectively. The trans-membrane pressure( TMP) of PVC composite membrane were always below 30 kPa when the membrane was operated at fluxof 25 L /( m2·h) ,30 L /( m2·h) and 35 L /( m2·h) ,respectively,which suggested that the PVCcomposite membrane was operated with low pressure. Regular air-water backwash and EFM could obvi-ously reduce TMP and alleviate membrane fouling at the same time. The TMP was between 7. 7 and 15kPa when PVC composite membrane was operated at flux of 25 L /( m2·h) . However,membrane foulingwas lower with chlorination pretreatment at flux of 30 L /( m2·h) ,and it could be effectively mitigatedby a backwash after filtration duration of 60 min when PVC composite membrane was operated at the fluxof 35 L /( m2·h) . Also,it suggested that the EFM period cycle was 14 days for once.
