Combined with the compilation of sponge city master plan of three cities in Zhejiang Province, an in- depth analysis of the water environment problems of different types of cities was made. Based on the measurement of pollution load into the river and through quantitative comparison of pollution load and environmental capacity, the causes of water pollution in different cities under current conditions and planning conditions were analyzed. According to the causes of pollution and combining with the concept of sponge city, the water environment improvement strategies were proposed and the key points of water environment remediation in different types of cities were discussed.
