The new water treatment plant in Jintang, Sichuan Province, with a total design scale of 12 ×104 m3/d, the design scale of the first phase project is 6×104 m3/d, adopts combined process of conventional grid flocculation, horizontalflow inclinedtube sedimentation, filtration and disinfection process, supplemented by emergency treatment measures. In order to ensure a safe and reliable water supply in the city, and to deal with the highturbidity raw water of the main source, Beihe River, during flood season (generally more than 3 000 NTU at high turbidity), the design was based on the rational allocation of dual water sources, the application of a sand setter in the raw water pipeline, and the usage of a horizontal flow inclined-tube sedimentation tank to optimize the design, which has controlled the effluent turbidity below 0.3 NTU by adopting the first-stage coagulation sedimentation process. The quality of the effluent water could meet the requirements of the Standards for Drinking Water Quality (GB 5749-2006). During operation, the PAC dosage was about 29.04 g/m3, the chlorine dosage was about 5.83 g/m3, and the power consumption per kiloton water was 270.83 kW·h.
