- In order to optimize the core of super large seawater cooling tower in a nuclear power plant, thermal resistance performance of three packing installation modes (shelving type, FRP bracket suspension type and through rod suspension type) was tested by physical model test method. The results showed that heat transfer efficiency and ventilation resistance of the packing with bracket suspension and through rod suspension were better than those of the shelving type. Comprehensive cooling performance of three packing installation methods in a seawater cooling tower of a coastal nuclear power plant was compared. The results showed that the cooling effect of the through rod suspension type was the best. Compared with the shelving type, the water temperature could be reduced by about 0.7 ℃, or the drenching area under the same outlet water temperature could be reduced by about 1 900 m2, which improved the economy and construction feasibility. Considering antifreeze requirements, domestic PVC packing material quality and special requirements of stability and reliability in nuclear power plants, the bracket suspension type is recommended as the preferred scheme.
