- Abstract:
- Aiming at the low-temperature and micro-polluted groundwater, a two-stage bio-enhanced filtration process was developed, and the effect of biological enhancement on pollutant removal was studied. The results showed that the optimum technological process was as follows: raw water → primary drop aeration→primary bio-enhanced filtration (anthracite+manganese sand)→secondary blast aeration→secondary bio-enhanced filtration (activated carbon+anthracite)→effluent. The turbidity of 0.2 NTU, chromaticity of 3 degrees, manganese content of 0.03 mg/L, iron content of 0.01 mg/L, CODMn of 1.9 mg/L, ammonia nitrogen of 0.05 mg/L in stable effluent were much lower than the limit of Standard for Drinking Water Quality (GB 5749-2006). Biological enhancement could significantly improve the treatment efficiency of ammonia nitrogen and organic matters, and most of the organic matters were removed in the secondary bio-enhanced filtration unit. The biomass and biological activity of the filter media of “activated carbon + anthracite” were higher than those of “anthracite + manganese sand”, and the filter media of “activated carbon + anthracite” was more suitable for the loading of microorganisms.
