- Abstract:
- Electrocatalytic oxidation was applied to treat electroless nickel plating wastewater with high ammonia nitrogen from the printed circuit board industry.Effects of pH, NaCl dosage and current density on removal efficiency of ammonia nitrogen and nickel from the wastewater were investigated, and the change of pH in the reaction process was analyzed. The best treatment performance was obtained when pH was maintained constantly at 8, and degradation of ammonia nitrogen and removal of nickel were the main reasons for pH decrease. The degradation rate of ammonia nitrogen increased with higher dosage of NaCl.Too high current density would decrease the current efficiency of the reaction system and increase the energy consumption. The removal of nickel lagged behind the degradation of ammonia nitrogen, and there was an accelerated removal process after ammonia nitrogen decreased. After electrocatalytic oxidation treatment, the ammonia nitrogen and nickel concentration in the effluent were lower than the limitations in table 3 specified in Emission Standard of Pollutants for Electroplating(GB 21900-2008), and the energy consumption to degrade 1 kg of NH3-N was only 38.74 kW·h.
