- Abstract:
- The rapid and stable formation of aerobic granular sludge is a challenge that restricts its large-scale engineering application. Therefore, Fe/C micro-electrolysis filler was added into a sequencing batch reactor (SBR) to enhance aerobic sludge granulation for the treatment of domestic sewage from a campus living area. The Fe/C micro-electrolysis filler improved the settling velocity of the activated sludge and effectively shortened the formation time of aerobic granular sludge. In addition, the inert carbon nuclei generated by iron carbon galvanic cell reaction was conducive to the attached growth of more microbes with longer generations (such as nitrifying bacteria). Adding Fe/C micro-electrolysis filler is an effective strategy to realize slow release of Fe/C micro-powder and accelerate aerobic granulation.
