- Abstract:
- The inflow and infiltration caused by rainfall is a common problem in urban sewage pipe network. It is one of the important tasks of drainage management to identify the areas with serious inflow and infiltration problem by monitoring and to carry out the detection, diagnosis and treatment. At present, relevant studies indicate that the method for calculating the total volume of inflow and infiltration at monitoring points in a rainfall event is relatively clear. However, it is still necessary to establish quantitative indexes for comparison among monitoring points. Three quantitative indexes based on drainage area, sewage pipeline length and reference flow rate in dry days were summarized and established, and applied in the case area. The results showed that there were significant differences in the identification and judgment of different indexes on the severity of inflow and infiltration in drainage areas, the use of unit area and per unit length calculation results had good consistency, but they relied on more basic data. The method compared with reference flow rate in dry days only needed the monitoring data, but the results could be influenced by drainage partition factors such as population density and type of land use. The applicable conditions of different indexes were different.
