- Abstract:
- According to the quality characteristics of raw water from the middle route of South-to-North Water Diversion Project, a pilot study of the combined process consisting of dissolved air floatation, ozonation and carbon sand filtration for purifying the raw water was carried out.Ferric chloride and polyaluminium chloride were selected as coagulants through the optimization of process parameters, and the optimum dosages of ferric chloride and polyaluminium chloride were 15 mg/L and 30 mg/L, respectively. The optimum dissolved gas pressure of the air flotation unit was 0.45 MPa, and the optimum reflux ratio was 10%. The optimum dosage of ozone was 1.5 mg/L, and the filtration velocity suitable for carbon sand filtration was 8 m/h.When the raw water quality was as follows: turbidity of 1.21-1.42 NTU, CODMn of 2.3-2.8 mg/L and algae count of 11.92 million cells/L to 12.56 million cells/L, the turbidity of effluent was less than 0.15 NTU and the removal efficiencies of turbidity, CODMn and algae count were 90%-93%, 40%-50% and 93%-95%, respectively. Therefore, the process had high removal efficiencies of turbidity, algae and organic matter, suggesting that it was suitable to treat raw water from the middle route of South-to-North Water Diversion Project.
