- To control the sewer sediment pollution to receiving water caused by runoff flushing, rainwater storage tanks were used to intercept the initial rainwater to reduce its high proportion of pollution load, and SWMM software was used to simulate the pollutants control effects of the terminal centralized and local distributed initial rainwater storage tanks. The results showed that the four local distributed initial rainwater storage tanks could reduce the pipeline flow, sewer sediment erosion and initial rainwater overflow. Compared with one terminal centralized initial rainwater storage tank with the same volume, the pollutants reduction rate increased from 68.58% to 78.68%. When the area of single land is insufficient, the local distributed storage tank with small footprint area can obtain better environmental benefits.
