- Abstract:
- Effect of electrode spacing on the flow field and the concentration field in an electrocoagulation device was investigated by computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Based on this, a pilot test was carried out to investigate the removal performance and mechanism of typical pollutants such as COD, NH3-N, TP and turbidity from the polluted surface water. The change in electrode spacing affected the flow state of the fluid between the electrodes. Larger electrode spacing was more likely to form a large and irregular low-velocity zone and thus affected the treatment efficiency. The electrocoagulation device had a relatively stable removal performance on turbidity, COD, NH3-N, and TP. When the current density was 25 A/m2, the main indicators of effluent met the class Ⅲ criteria specified in Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water (GB 3838-2002). When the current density was 15 A/m2, the effluent quality met the class Ⅳ surface water criteria.
