- After the completion of water quality improvement and phase Ⅲ expansion project of Jiangnan Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Nanning, the total sewage treatment capacity will reach 72×104 m3/d, and the expected sludge output is around 500 t/d with water content of 80%. In order to further realize the harmless processing and minimization of sludge, and create favorable conditions for stabilization and resource utilization of sludge, the WWTP builds a new sludge treatment system, which adopts the bioleaching deep dehydration technology. The output sludge cakes by the technology can fundamentally change the black and odorous appearance of the raw sludge, reduce the water content to less than 60%, and reduce the volume of the thickened sludge by 90% to 95%. After around one year of trial operation, the new sludge treatment system can steadily output around 80 t of mud cakes with the water content of around 60% on a daily basis and under the production load of around 75%, which basically realized the system’s designed objective. By summarizing the whole application process of the bioleaching deep dehydration technology from the pilot-scale test to project construction and to trial operation, this paper lists detailed experimental data and technological parameters, which can also provide references for the design and operation of the other similar sewage treatment system.
