- How to avoid sewage overflow and improve water quality is the difficulty of engineering design for reconstruction of sewage interceptors in cities along the river close to water source protection areas. Taking the reconstruction of sewage interceptor of Luzhou Erdaoxi wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) as an example, this paper innovatively puts forward the multi-functional line scheme of sewage interceptor, which makes full use of the volume of the old pipe by reserving the connecting pipe and the gate valve between the old and new sewage interceptors, so as to ensure that the sewage will not be interrupted and overflow when the new pipe is overloaded and overhauled. Furthermore, a multifunctional manhole for sludge discharge accident is also added to avoid sludge directly discharged into the river, which enhances environmental protection and economy. In addition, a 100 000 m3/d sewage pump station is set up in this project. The control factors and construction methods of the project crossing the construction environment sensitive areas such as Binjiang Park, Southwest Trade City, old community and workshop demolition area, as well as the operation mode of the old and new sewage interceptors and sewage pump stations, can provide reference for subsequent similar drainage projects.
