- Abstract:
- Aerobic granular sludge with simultaneous nitrogen and phosphorus removal ability was successfully cultivated for treating municipal wastewater in a sequencing batch reactor (SBR) in 11 days. When the sludge concentration reached 3 g/L, a cyclone was used to separate the granules, which was conducive to the cultivation and stable maintenance of granular sludge. In the stable operation stage, the sludge concentration was 3.108 g/L, and the sludge volume index in 30 min (SVI30) was 60 mL/g. The mature granular sludge was brownish yellow with a regular shape. The granular size distribution changed significantly before and after separation, and the proportion of granular sludge with particle size greater than 200 μm increased from 35% to 52%. The mass separation efficiency of granular sludge was 83.02% after three-stage separation, and the pure separation efficiency was 75.75% after subtracting the separation ratio. In the stable operation stage, the system showed a remarkable performance of simultaneous nitrogen and phosphorus removal, and the COD, NH4+-N, NO3--N, TN and TP in effluent were below 30 mg/L, 0.5 mg/L, 15 mg/L, 16 mg/L and 0.7 mg/L, respectively.
