- Abstract:
- Powdered activated carbon (PAC) can be applied in wastewater advanced treatment to remove organic matter, however, the common contact adsorption and precipitation process has low adsorption efficiency, poor sedimentation separation performance and high cost, and usually only used for emergency adding. The carbon adsorption accelerator forms activated carbon sludge layer through large reflux ratio of sludge circulation, thus the concentration of PAC is increased hundreds of times, and the contact time of PAC and organic matter is prolonged, which make organic matter adsorption by PAC close to saturation. Compared with the contact adsorption and precipitation process, the use of activated carbon is reduced by over 40%, effectively reducing the cost of agents and sludge treatment and disposal. In addition, the existing mechanical accelerator can be used to transform to the carbon adsorption accelerator, which can simultaneously remove organics and SS. After adding the PAC, the effluent SS was basically the same as before, and the chroma was significantly improved. After using carbon adsorption accelerator, the overall process is short, thus saving land and investment.
