- Abstract:
- This paper analyzed the occurrence characteristics and fate of 3 groups of 18 antibiotics in the leachate treatment system of a domestic waste incineration plant in Shanghai. The concentration ranges of sulfonamides (SAs), quinolones (FQs) and macrolides (MLs) in the original leachate were 508.3-613.8 ng/L, 1 471-2 073 ng/L and 931-1 466 ng/L, respectively. The removal rates of SAs, FQs and MLs antibiotics reached 95.4%, 60.9% and 99.3% respectively after the leachate was treated by anaerobic-two-stage anoxic/aerobic biochemical treatment system. The biochemical treatment could effectively degrade SAs and MLs antibiotics, but the degradation performance of FQs antibiotics was poor. The removal rates of FQs antibiotics by sludge adsorption was between 7.6% and 17.7%, while the contents of SAs and MLs antibiotics in the sludge were both lower than 5%. The percentage of sludge adsorption contributed to antibiotic removal was relatively low. Antibiotics in leachate were mainly removed by biochemical treatment, and microbial degradation was the main mechanism of antibiotic removal in leachate treatment.
