- The A2/O and AO process of a municipal wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Shanxi Province is studied to evaluate the current status of the process, guide the process regulation and control, optimize the effect of nitrogen and phosphorus removal, save energy and reduce consumption, reduce operating costs at the same time through whole process testing. Based on the results of the whole process test, the effluent TN was reduced from 13.21 mg/L to 8.74 mg/L, the TN removal rate was increased from 71% to 79%, and the PO43--P removal rate was increased from 82% to 98% after taking the optimization measures such as adjusting the aeration mode of aerobic zone, adding an oxygen elimination zone, adjusting the ratio of external return flow and influent, reducing the sludge concentration, and adjusting the carbon source dosage point. The efficiency of biological nitrogen and phosphorus removal in the WWTP was greatly improved, while the monthly cost of carbon source could be saved by 140 000 yuan, which has an obvious economic benefit.
