- Abstract:
- The application of water quality model in prediction of residual chlorine of pipe network is one of the important means for water quality control. Based on the previously developed total chlorine decay model (TCDM), a refined total chlorine decay model (RTCDM) was developed by coupling the free chlorine decomposition reaction module. In addition, the residual chlorine decay process of raw water from South-to-North Water Diversion Project, effluent from water treatment plant and pipe network water were investigated under different experimental conditions. The prediction results of RTCDM were compared with the experimental results under the same initial conditions, which indicated that the RTCDM was capable of predicting the experimental results with high accuracy. The mean relative error of each experiment was in the range of 0.2%-9%, and the model had good sensitivity to experimental conditions. Consequently, for chloramine disinfection water supply system, it is not appropriate to consider the decomposition process of chloramine alone, and the free chlorine decomposition process existing in water should be included in the chloramine decay reactions, so as to improve the adaptive capacity of the model.
