- In this study, one 4-4 configuration symmetrical rotor profile with an area utilization coefficient of 0.85 and the twin-screw vapor compressor basing the profile was designed and developed.A device of mechanical vapor recompression (MVR) evaporation crystallization with a treatment load of 24 m3/d was developed with high pressure ratio by coupling of forced circulation evaporation process, and its application and operation analysis in industrial wastewater treatment with high salt and high COD were conducted,which passed through the 168-hour performance test smoothly. The results indicate that the MVR device can operate automatically and stably, with all technical indicators meeting or exceeding the design specifications. It handles a treatment load of approximately 1 m3/h, resulting in discharged water with the total dissolved solid (TDS) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) at about 17.4 mg/L and 60 mg/L respectively, compared to the raw wastewater values of about 100 000 mg/L and 9 200 mg/L, respectively. These results are better than the discharge requirements. The power consumption of wastewater treatment is about 68 kW·h/m3. Meanwhile, the temperature rise of compressor compressing vapor is about 22.3 ℃ with a pressure ratio of 2.26, and average compressing efficiency of about 71.2%. These specifications qualify the compressor for operation under the condition of 16 ℃ boiling point elevation in mother liquor. Through the innovation and application of twin-screw vapor compressor with high pressure ratio, the vapor compressing temperature rise of MVR device is improved obviously, that enhances its practicability and reliability in wastewater evaporation crystallization with high boiling point elevation. This study can serve as a guide for integrating technology, developing processes, and designing and manufacturing of MVR evaporation crystallization devices coupled with twin?screw vapor compressors.
