- Abstract:
- This paper investigated the characteristics of aerobic granular sludge (AGS) for treating simulated livestock wastewater. The reactor was started by feeding simulated livestock wastewater, and mature and stable AGS were formed after 35 days of operation. In the aerobic sludge granulation process, the contents of protein (PN) and polysaccharide (PS) increased by 2.2 times and 3.1 times, respectively, which was conducive to maintaining the structural stability of granular sludge. As for the protein secondary structure, the relative content of β-sheets increased, indicating that the sludge hydrophobicity was enhanced, which was conducive to microbial aggregation and accelerated the aerobic sludge granulation process. The AGS system demonstrated the removal rates as high as 97.31% and 78.71% for COD and NH4+-N, respectively, and the main removal mechanism was that nutrients were assimilated and absorbed by microorganisms.
