- Abstract:
- The calibration of water distribution network (WDN) hydraulic model is an important premise for its advanced application, and the lack of observation information caused by relatively few monitoring points is one of the bottleneck problems. This paper proposed a new strategy called mobile pressure monitoring to address this issue. The spatial monitoring coverage of WDN was evidently improved with a limited number of sensors, and more extensive observed information of WDN was obtained through an “overall, part by part, overall” mobile pressure monitoring strategy. In addition, a set of feasible mobile monitoring layout approach and corresponding calibration methods for pipe roughness coefficient was established. Relying on the batched monitoring data, the calibration parameters were corrected step by step, and the accuracy was proved to be cumulative during the iterative monitoring process. The test results indicated that the mobile monitoring strategy evidently decreased the roughness relative error of the WDN from 18.85% to 1.52%, and the final relative error 1.52% was extremely close to the result of 1.38% when all the pressure sensors were set simultaneously.
