- Confronted with the growing complexity and multifaceted nature of urban water-related problems, the construction of urban sponge city system, creating the systematic constructic pattern of sponge city may offer a novel perspective for the comprehensive solution to urban water issues. Taking the practice of water environment systematic treatment in Wuyuan Bay watershed as an example, this paper probes into the systematic construction pattern of sponge city. This model adopts the comprehensive management of the water environment as an entry point, to broaden the horizons of sponge city construction with new ideas. It employs system thinking to determine the pipeline network traceability investigation, sewage works,the original source of renovation,drainage and flood prevention, source sponge renovation,wetland parks construction,as well as development of a digital management system for the drainage network. The development mode and implement path of the systematic construction pattern of sponge city are explored with the concept of “source control and pollution interception, sponge city, drainage and flood prevention, long term governance” at the watershed scale. The aim is to achieve the integration of comprehensive remediation of watersheds, natural sponge protection and restoration, ecological landscape creation, urban infrastructure construction. This paper can provide a reference for the overall coordination of water environment systematic treatment and sponge city construction.
