- Abstract:
- This paper prepared polyvinylidene fluoride/barium titanate (PVDF/BTO) ultrafiltration membrane by incorporating BTO nano-piezoelectric particles as additive, and analyzed the impact of BTO on the piezoelectric output, crystal content, surface characteristics, pore size structure, filtration efficiency and anti?fouling performance of the membrane, so as to address the fouling issue of PVDF ultrafiltration membranes. The PVDF ultrafiltration membrane loaded with 0.1% BTO exhibited a piezoelectric output of -3.99 V at 0.15 MPa, accompanied by an increase in polar crystal content to 90.19%, an increase in membrane surface charge to -53 mV and a decrease in contact angle to 43°, thereby reducing the formation of macropores. As a result, the rejection rate for bovine serum albumin (BSA) increased to 77.4%, while the pure water flux experienced a slight decrease to 453.5 L/(m2·h). Furthermore, the BSA fouling experiment demonstrated that the piezoelectric effect of PVDF/BTO membrane material could effectively respond to the pressure-driven membrane process, thereby enhancing electrostatic repulsion of pollutants and mitigating membrane fouling. Specifically, its fouling resistance did not increase with higher filtration pressure within a certain transmembrane pressure range (0.05-0.15 MPa). Its irreversible fouling resistance was reduced by 20.17% (0.15 MPa) in comparison with the unmodified membrane, demonstrating outstanding anti?fouling performance.
