- Abstract:
- The integrated process consisting of rotating biological contactor (RBC), O/A and MBR based on partial nitrification and denitrification (PND) was employed to treat aged landfill leachate. The pollutant removal efficiency and change in microbial community composition within each process unit during operation were evaluated. Partial nitrification was effectively initiated by maintaining DO within the range of 0.3 mg/L to 0.7 mg/L. The total inorganic nitrogen removal efficiency (TINRE) achieved 99.02% when methanol was added to anoxic tank at C/N of 1.6, under the condition that BOD5 in the influent was fully utilized by the RBC. The 16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing results indicated that one of the predominant bacterial genera in both the activated sludge and the RBC biofilm was the methanol-denitrifying bacteria Hyphomicrobium on the 121st day, accounting for 39.06% and 16.96%, respectively. Additionally, norank_f__Anaerolineaceae (9.11% in activated sludge and 5.48% in RBC biofilm) might potentially represent the dominant ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) in the system.
