- Abstract:
- This study presents an ecological restoration project in the Guishui River basin, which addresses issues such as sediment deposition, insufficient ecological base flow, limited vegetation habitat, and substandard water quality. The project employs a suite of ecological restoration technologies, including ecological desilting and in-situ degradation of sediment islands, external water diversion and reclaimed water supply, shoals, deep pools and aquatic plant restoration, water circulation and bypass wetland purification, as well as soil and water conservation and ecological restoration of non-point source pollution in the watershed. These measures have increased the ecological flow in the project area by over 10% and raised the aquatic plant diversity index from 0.3 to 1.8. Additionally, the project ensures that the three key water quality indicators (CODMn, TP, and ammonia nitrogen) meet the requirements of the Action Plan for Prevention and Control of Water Pollution policy at the Gujiaying monitoring section. The project also demonstrates some removal of TN and creates an improved ecological landscape by constructing repulse bays and habitat islands, with optimized plant color ratios and seasonal variations.
