- A significant portion of China’s drinking water sources are derived from reservoirs or lakes， and the source water often contains algae, and the algae water treatment is classified as special water quality treatment. Based on extensive research and practice both domestically and internationally, the Technical Specification for Algae Water Treatment (T/CECA 20012-2021) has been formulated. This article primarily outlines the compilation process and key contents of the technical specification. The combination of pretreatment, conventional treatment and advanced treatment should be selected according to the characteristics of source water. The technological process and structure type should be determined by raw water quality, referencing to similar engineering experience or experiment results, and appropriate design parameters should be chosen by technical and economic comparison. The establishment of this technical specification marks a significant and positive impacting on the efficiency of algae removal and drinking water quality. It is particularly crucial for emergency responses to sudden changes in algae content in source water, thereby ensuring the safety of water supply and drinking water quality.
