- A wastewater treatment plant in Xi’an has a total design capacity of 1.0×104m3/d, with the phase I project having a capacity of 0.5×104 m3/d. The wastewater treatment plant utilizes stereoscopic ecological treatment process to ensure that the effluent complies with the class A limit specified in Integrated Wastewater Discharge Standard of Yellow River Basin in Shaanxi Province (DB 61/224-2018). After treatment, the COD, BOD5, SS, NH4+-N, TN, and TP in the effluent were significantly reduced, and the average concentrations were 20.05 mg/L, 2.08 mg/L, 1.48 mg/L, 0.24 mg/L, 8.01 mg/L, and 0.16 mg/L, respectively. All effluent quality indicators remained stable and met the discharge standard, demonstrating the significant effectiveness of the stereoscopic ecological treatment process. In addition, this process showed no influence from fluctuations in influent quality. The distinctive landscape features of the process, along with the integration of the sponge city concept during the design phase of the plant, created a “garden style” wastewater treatment plant that being aesthetically pleasing while also functions effectively. In addition, structures in various treatment sections were centrally arranged, and multiple groups of structures were integrated constructed through the efficient utilization of land space. This approach not only achieves intensive land use but also reduces head loss, thereby contributing to energy consumption savings. The detailed process flow and critical design parameters for each section of the wastewater treatment plant were systematically introduced, providing a valuable guideline and reference for similar projects.
