- Abstract:
- Due to the limitations imposed by the connecting pipe between the water-supply well and the fire pool, it is necessary to maintain a certain water level difference between them to ensure adequate flow in the connecting pipe. This water level difference ultimately influences the lowest effective water level of the fire pool in the scenario of fire pools featuring a shared water-supply well. When determining the lowest effective water level of the fire pool, it is not sufficient to interpret the provisions of the fire code literally. Instead, an in-depth analysis and precise calculation are required. Failure to do so may result in untimely water supply from the well, the fire pump running without water, and the inability to provide firefighting water when needed. To prevent the recurrence of similar issues, this study theoretically analyzed the lowest effective water level of the fire pool with a water-supply well by applying the principles of short-pipe outflow and Bernoulli’s equation in hydraulics. Furthermore, an appropriate hydraulic formula was selected based on different scenarios to ensure precise calculations, thereby providing valuable references for relevant engineering designs.
