- Abstract:
- A water plant expansion and renovation project in Shenzhen uses slurry balanced pipe jacking technology for laying the reservoir’s water intake pipeline. The intake of the water intake pipeline is situated within the reservoir, employing conventional pipe jacking technology that necessitates the construction of a cofferdam and a receiving well, both of which are time-consuming and costly. Following thorough evaluation, the decision was made to employ underwater pipe jacking technology without constructing a receiving well. Successful implementation of this technique involved employing a double- layer sealing design, blocking the pipe ends, tunnel water injection, underwater excavation, pipeline cutting, and the lifting and reception of the pipe jacking machine. Utilizing underwater head pipe jacking technology without a receiving well not only reduced costs and shortened the construction time but also yielded significant economic benefits. It also mitigated safety risks associated with multiple diving operations in deepwater cofferdam construction, enhanced construction safety, and offered technical insights for future pipe jacking projects under similar conditions.
