- Abstract:
- Traditional sand filter operation triggers the same backwash strategy at a fixed time or head loss threshold, which does not meet the need for precise flushing according to the actual situation. Shanghai Lingang waterworks has constructed a comprehensive health evaluation system for the filter from three aspects: cumulative filtration flow, standardized head loss, and filter effluent turbidity threshold, which monitors, evaluates and predicts the operation status of the single-grid filter in real time, and plans the backwash schedule of the filter according to the health prediction results and the peak and valley electricity price factors at the same time, so as to achieve on-demand flushing. After the intelligent filter was put into operation, the average water treatment increased by 13%. The system also constructs a backwash utility model, and uses the optimization algorithm to dynamically adjust the three-stage backwash duration of air flushing, air-water flushing, and water flushing, which reduces the turbidity of primary filtered water from 0.24 NTU to 0.09 NTU, and the turbidity of effluent from 0.05 NTU to 0.03 NTU compared with before the system is launched. In addition, on the premise of ensuring that the filter is cleaned in place, the backwash water consumption is reduced by 11.73%, and the electricity cost is reduced by 36.61%.
