- Abstract:
- The safety of water intake projects is a prerequisite for ensuring the stable and reliable water supply of the entire city. This paper systematically analyzed the key factors affecting water intake under extreme drought condition of a city in the central and western region of Hunan Province, with emergency water intake as the primary objective. Based on current water intake characteristics and guided by the design principles of rapid response, safety and economy, convenient and fast, flexibility and adaptability, the approach of converting gravity flow into pressurized transportation was adopted. Building upon the concept of floating boat water intake, an innovative emergency water intake system was developed, consisting of a mobile water intake floating tank (float and water intake pump), hoses, and shallowly embedded riverbed pipelines. This system enabled the establishment of rapid emergency water intake capacity and significantly improved the water intake conditions within the pumping station. Simultaneously, the liquid level control and overflow management during the operation of the emergency water intake system were examined to ensure safe and reliable water intake. This analysis comprehensively supported the fundamental urban water supply infrastructure, enhanced the city’s safety and resilience.
