- Abstract:
- Coal-to-hydrogen and synthetic ammonia wastewater is characterized by high hardness, high total nitrogen, high ammonia nitrogen and low carbon to nitrogen ratio, which is typical refractory coal chemical wastewater. There are few engineering cases about treating this wastewater to meet the direct discharge standard. A coal-to-hydrogen and synthetic ammonia production plant adopts the process of softening pre-treatment, enhanced biological nitrogen removal reactor, denitrification biofilter to treat its production wastewater. The design influent volume is 300 m3/h, and the average influent total hardness, total nitrogen(TN), ammonia nitrogen(NH3-N) and COD are 794.2 mg/L, 488.2 mg/L, 425.3 mg/L, and 488.7 mg/L, respectively. The results show that the average removal rate of total hardness of wastewater by softening system is 62.3%. TN, NH3-N and COD can be reduced to 17.0 mg/L, 1.5 mg/L, and 22.5 mg/L respectively by enhanced biochemical treatment, and the average removal rate were 96.5%, 99.6%, 95.4%, respectively. The effluent from the enhanced biological nitrogen removal reactor enters into the denitrification biofilter treatment system, which can further achieve a total nitrogen removal rate of up to 69.0%, ensuring a stable total nitrogen in the effluent below 10 mg/L. When the influent COD fluctuates greatly, the Fenton oxidation treatment system is started, and the degradation efficiency of COD can reach 43.6%, ensuring the COD in the effluent below 30 mg/L. The operation chemical and electricity cost of the system includes 1.81 yuan/m3 for softening pre-treatment, 2.95 yuan/m3 for enhanced biological nitrogen removal reactor and denitrification biofilter, 0.51 yuan/m3 for Fenton oxidation treatment, and 5.27 yuan/m3 for total cost.
