- Abstract:
- A performance verification test was conducted at a wastewater treatment plant in Shenzhen to gain a deeper understanding of the deep dewatering technology of vertical high-pressure filter press. The vertical high-pressure filter press employed in the deep dewatering process demonstrated an excellent dewatering performance, effectively reducing the moisture content of sludge from 80%-85% to below 50%. Through optimizing the selection of dewatering agents, the dewatering efficiency of adding bio-enzymes and polyaluminum ferric chloride (PAFC) was better. The continuous operational performance test results showed that, the average moisture content of the treated sludge reached 45.60% and 46.79% respectively when 0.7 kg/t of bio-enzymes and 30 kg/t of PAFC (calculated on dry sludge basis) were applied respectively. The corresponding comprehensive costs, including electricity consumption and chemical expenses, were 102.34 yuan/t and 53.35 yuan/t, respectively. These results indicated that the bio-enzyme treatment offered superior operational conditions and a more stable dewatering efficiency, whereas PAFC demonstrated relatively lower operational costs. Furthermore, the economic benefits associated with the deep dewatering process utilizing a vertical high-pressure filter press were significantly greater than those achieved by the conventional plate-and-frame dewatering.
