- Abstract:
- A pilot-scale study was conducted in a wastewater treatment plant in Zhengzhou City to investigate the effectiveness of ozone-based advanced oxidation technology in the upgrading and reconstruction of tailwater treatment in urban wastewater treatment plants. The influent was the effluent of the filter in the plant. Three treatment processes—ozone contact oxidation, heterogeneous ozone catalytic oxidation, and homogeneous ozone catalytic oxidation—were sequentially implemented. The treatment efficiencies under various operational conditions and parameter settings were analyzed and compared. The O3/COD ratio required for the ozone contact oxidation process ranged from 2.67 to 6.02. However, as the influent COD decreased, the efficiency of organic degradation via ozone contact oxidation diminished. The O3/COD ratio required for the heterogeneous ozone catalytic oxidation process was approximately 1.2. The optimal reaction performance was achieved under a reaction time of 30 minutes and a catalyst filling rate of 10%. In comparison, the homogeneous ozone catalytic oxidation process required a higher O3/COD ratio, ranging from approximately 1.5 to 1.6, and achieved the optimal performance with a reaction time of 45 minutes.
