- Abstract:
- The upper reaches of the Shenzhen River traverse hilly terrain, whereas the lower reaches consist of tidal river segments characterized by limited water environmental capacity and unfavorable hydrodynamic conditions. Considering the complex hydrological system and geographical characteristics of the region, a coupling model of water quantity and water quality was developed based on the principles of the hydrological cycle and the mechanisms of pollutants transport and transformation. The model’s accuracy was validated using field measurement data. Additionally, a water component model was established to assess the water quality improvement effects at key control sections of Shenzhen River. The water scheduling performance of Jinhu Lower Reservoir was superior to that of Shenzhen Reservoir. Under a regulated flow rate ranging from 10 m3/s to 20 m3/s, the inflow from Jinhu Lower Reservoir could enhance the water quality at the estuary 10 hours in advance. In contrast, the water quality concentration at monitoring sections of Shenzhen River exhibited an increasing trend when the rainfall was below 25 mm, and a decreasing trend when rainfall exceeded 25 mm. This model is highly applicable to the Shenzhen River Bay Basin, and the obtained results can serve as a valuable reference for water environmental management and scheduling decision-making.
