- Abstract:
- To address non-point source pollution, flood regulation, and landscape enhancement in the Xinfeng River basin in Beijing, a composite flow wetland system was constructed, incorporating a detention pond and a series of treatment processes:pre-pond, two-stage horizontal subsurface flow wetlands, vertical flow wetlands, surface flow wetlands with bypasses. To improve performance in low temperatures and enhance pollution collection efficiency, the system’s spatial layout, media, and vegetation were optimized. The results demonstrate that: ① The wetland system is flexible in design, space-efficient,and provides uniform water distribution, creating diverse microbial habitats (aerobic, anaerobic, and anoxic) and an aesthetically pleasing ecological landscape. ②Measures such as vegetation coverage, low water level operation, and insulated media ensure effective water purification even in low temperatures. ③During operation, the river water quality meets regulatory standards, with wetland effluent exceeding class Ⅲ surface water quality under non-rainfall conditions and class Ⅳ surface water quality under rainfall conditions.
