- Abstract:
- A composite conditioner of polydimethyldiallylammonium chloride and ferric sulfate (PDMDAAC-PFS) was prepared via a hydrothermal method. Under the optimal synthesis conditions of reaction temperature of 70 ℃ and reaction time of 3.50 h, the product exhibited viscosity of 49.3 mPa·s and Zeta potential of 19.42 mV. When dosed at 0.6 mL/gDS, the conditioner reduced the moisture content of the treated sludge to 63.3% and the capillary suction time to 36.3 s. Further analysis indicated that the conditioner significantly decreased the content of tightly bound extracellular polymeric substances (TB-EPS), particularly tryptophan-like proteins, thereby releasing a substantial amount of bound water. Meanwhile, Fe3+ promoted the re-flocculation of sludge particles into larger aggregates, synergistically improving sludge dewaterability.
