- Abstract:
- Since its advocacy by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1998, the student-centered concept has become a core guiding principle in the reform of higher education in China. This study addresses key issues in current engineering education within the discipline, including the lack of student agency and insufficient integration of industry and academia. Using “the New Engineering Program Class of Water Supply and Drainage Engineering, Zhejiang University of Technology” as a practical case, an innovative organizational model of “virtual class + real-world training” was constructed. Through initiatives such as a dual-homeroom teacher system with deep industry involvement, the development of a two-way interactive “professional-ideological” curriculum system, and the establishment of a four-dimensional practical platform, an ecological cultivation mechanism was formed, characterized by “interest-driven learning, knowledge updating, value shaping, and field expansion”. The results demonstrate that this model significantly enhances students’ professional identity, engineering practical abilities, and social responsibility, providing a replicable paradigm for cultivating new-era engineering talent.
