- Taking the national first-class undergraduate course Water Quality Engineering Ⅰ as an example, this paper explores the deep integration path of artificial intelligence technology in engineering education. In response to issues commonly found in traditional teaching such as abstract knowledge, weak practical application, disconnection from ideological and political education, and delayed feedback, the course has established a new “five-in-one” smart teaching paradigm. By employing smart teaching methods such as constructing knowledge graphs, virtual simulation experiments, integrating ideological and political education into the curriculum, intelligent teaching assistance systems, and comprehensive learning guidance systems, the course has shifted from a“teaching-centered”approach to a “learning-centered”one. This transformation has enhanced students’ learning interest, practical engineering ability, and innovative awareness, while also improving teaching efficacy and educational quality. The course provides a referential practical framework for the intelligent transformation of engineering courses and offers a replicable smart-education model for cultivating talent in the water industry for the new era.
