- Abstract:
- The high concentration of sulfides in the waste gas produced by sludge thermal hydrolysis (H2S >5 000 mg/m3) and the complex components of odorous substances (including organic sulfur compounds such as methanethiol) have led to the frequent deactivation technical problem of traditional biofilters. Through the application experiment in a sludge treatment project in Xinjiang, an innovative four-stage waste gas treatment process of “low-oxygen combustion + rapid cooling + two-stage alkali washing + biofilter” was proposed. This process introduces natural gas-assisted combustion technology to solve the problem that the low calorific value of thermal hydrolysis waste gas (5.693 MJ/m3) cannot sustain combustion on its own, and combines alkali washing with biofilters to achieve deep desulfurization. Practice shows that the system’s treatment efficiency has been significantly improved, and the emission concentrations of key pollutants such as hydrogen sulfide and methanethiol are lower than 5% of the limit values of the Odorous Pollutant Emission Standards (GB 14554-93), and the odor concentration has dropped from the initial value of 6.9×107 to 1.7×103(dimensionless). Economic analysis shows that only 0.54 m3/t of natural gas is required for sludge treatment, and the comprehensive cost is 66% lower than the traditional method.
