- Abstract:
- The remediation of leakage in water supply and drainage pipelines within water-rich areas represents one of the most challenging aspects of local defect control in municipal pipe networks. Quick-locking steel sleeves are widely adopted due to their simple design, convenient installation, and low cost. However, under high water pressure conditions, such thin-walled structures are prone to buckling failure, leading to functional loss of the repaired pipeline with potentially severe consequences. To investigate their performance, full-scale quick-locking reinforcement tests were conducted on pipes of five different diameters. These tests examined the failure modes of quick-locking steel sleeves under local concentrated external pressure and determined their ultimate buckling pressures across varying dimensional parameters. Furthermore, a design model for the steel sleeve was established based on structural reliability theory. The results show that the ratio of experimental values to model-calculated values ranges between 0.87 and 1.15, demonstrating good agreement. The relevant research findings can provide effective guidance for the design and construction of local repair structures in municipal water supply and drainage networks.
