- Abstract:
- Prefabricated wastewater treatment facilities, characterized by modular and standardizedstructural design, provide a new pathway for water treatment engineering—enabling equipment-based construction and productized delivery solutions throughout the whole-life cycle of investment, technology, construction, and operation. A newly constructed 3×104 m3/d municipal wastewater treatment plant in Jiangxi Province serves as a demonstrative case. Through intensive design and the pioneering application of biochemical sedimentation integrated technology, the project employs prefabricated steel-structured units for secondary treatment, effectively overcoming conventional limitations such as protracted design cycles, excessive land occupation, and prolonged construction durations. The project was designed with a total hydraulic retention time of 16.21 h (10.67 h under design flow), optimizing approximately 12% of the plant’s land use, with the biological treatment zone (including sedimentation) occupying 0.15 m2/(m3·d) of treated wastewater, representing only 16% of the total site area. Remarkably, the prefabricated facilities achieved full commissioning within 45 days from equipment mobilization, successfully balancing rapid project delivery with stringent effluent quality requirements. This approach not only rapidly meets engineering demands but also achieves high-quality effluent standards while overcoming land use constraints. The actual effluent quality of the project has stably complied with the comprehensive discharge standards, with key pollutant concentrations maintained below the specified limits.
