- Abstract:
- To address the persistent issue of freshwater resource shortages on an island in Zhoushan and to ensure a stable and reliable water supply for local residents, a seawater desalination project with a design capacity of 1 500 m3/d has been constructed. This project employs a dual-membrane treatment process consisting of dissolved air flotation, ultrafiltration, first-stage reverse osmosis, second-stage reverse osmosis, and post-mineralization, supplemented by a domestically developed turbine-type energy recovery system and a PLC-based automatic control system integrated with an industrial computer. The engineering design was carefully based on the seawater quality of nearby waters and incorporated optimized equipment selection and effective anti-corrosion measures to address the high-temperature, high-humidity, and high-salt-mist conditions typical of the island environment. Operating results indicate that the produced water quality consistently meets the requirements of the Standards for Drinking Water Quality (GB 5749-2022), with a specific energy consumption of less than 3.5 kW·h/m- and an annual operating time of no less than 8 000 hours, demonstrating stable and reliable system performance. The implementation of this project provides both valuable technical references and practical engineering demonstrations for similar seawater desalination projects on islands along China’s southeastern coast, yielding notable social and economic benefits.
