- Abstract:
- To optimize the operational efficiency of water tank in secondary water supply systems, this study took a specific office park as a case study. Based on long-term online monitoring data of influent flow and water quality, time-series analysis and statistical methods were employed to comprehensively evaluate the effective volume, water quality variation periodicity, hydraulic retention time (HRT), and water quality stability of the secondary water supply tank. The results indicated that the designed effective volume of the tank in the office park was overly large, leading to prolonged HRT during non-operating hours and increased water quality risks. It is recommended to dynamically adjust the tank operation strategy by controlling the maximum operating water level to 85% and 70% of the designed effective volume during the summer-autumn and winter-spring seasons, respectively. In addition, the stability of various water quality parameters varied considerably. Turbidity and chromaticity, being more susceptible to intermittent hydraulic disturbances within the tank, exhibited poorer stability. For these parameters, alert thresholds and intervention thresholds can be established based on the 95th and 99th percentiles (P95 and P99) of the monitoring data samples, respectively.
