- Abstract:
- To address the reverse osmosis concentrate (LLROC) generated from the treatment of landfill leachate by reverse osmosis technology, a double-pipe air gap membrane distillation module (DP-AGMD-M) was employed for its further concentration. The effects of process parameters, including temperature and flow rate, on the performance of the DP-AGMD-M were investigated. The rejection capacity of the DP-AGMD-M for various pollutants during the deep concentration process was examined, and the feasibility of driving the DP-AGMD-M using waste heat from municipal solid waste incineration was evaluated. The results indicated that among the parameters studied, feed temperature exerted the most significant influence on module performance. When the feed temperature was 90 ℃, the maximum membrane flux, gained output ratio (GOR), and thermal efficiency reached 1.95 kg/(m2·h), 0.24, and 20.8%, respectively. During the deep concentration of LLROC, the membrane flux of the DP-AGMD-M remained relatively stable, with no observable membrane fouling. When the LLROC was concentrated to one-fifth of its original volume, the DP-AGMD-M achieved over 99% rejection for all pollutants except ammonia nitrogen. The feasibility analysis of waste heat utilization demonstrated that the waste heat from the incineration plant could satisfy the on-site treatment requirements of the DP-AGMD-M system. Overall, the DP-AGMD-M shows promising applicability for the deep concentration of LLROC and possesses significant potential for engineering implementation powered by low-grade heat sources.
