- Abstract:
- In response to the treatment challenges and resource utilization potential of high- nitrogen and high-phosphorus biogas slurry, an aerobic granular sludge (AGS) system based on magnesium source addition and induction of struvite in-situ crystallization was constructed, simultaneously achieving the directional recovery of phosphorus and the strengthening of AGS structure. The results showed that a crystal nucleus was successfully and spontaneously generated within the system. Through multiple characterization methods such as XRD, FTIR, and XPS, it was jointly confirmed that this crystal nucleus was struvite, and its growth characteristic law was further revealed. In addition, this system achieved a synergistic effect of treatment and recycling: on the one hand, the self-generated struvite, serving as a high-quality framework, increased the average settlement velocity (54.39 m/h) of AGS in the experimental group by 81.60% compared with the blank group, significantly enhancing the structural strength. After 60 days of operation, the removal rates of COD, ammonia nitrogen, total nitrogen and total phosphorus could reach 95%, 100%, 70.53% and 76.47% respectively. Microbial community analysis further indicated that the granular sludge was enriched with key functional bacterial communities such as Neomegalonema and Paracoccus under the guidance of the self-generated struvite crystal nuclei. These bacterial communities demonstrated outstanding EPS secretion, nitrogen and phosphorus removal, and high ionic strength adaptability in the microenvironment provided by struvite. On the other hand, the output of struvite in the system was 39.81 mg/L. Through input and recovery cost analysis, the revenue from struvite recovery per ton of wastewater was 2.34 times the cost of the magnesium agent, successfully achieving the goal of resource recovery while treating high-load wastewater in the AGS system.
