- Abstract:
- Drainage noise from building pipelines is one of the main indoor noise sources. To investigate the effects of different pipe materials and different wrapping treatments on drainage pipeline noise, field tests were conducted on the flushing drainage noise of unplasticized polyvinyl chloride(UPVC) and cast iron pipes. The noise reduction performances of different wrapping materials were also tested to provide guidance for practical engineering applications. The test results showed that the drainage noise of cast iron pipes under various wrapping conditions was 9-11 dB lower than that of UPVC pipes. After wrapping, the drainage noise of both types of pipes exhibited obvious low-frequency characteristics. Glass wool could reduce both the average and maximum drainage noise levels by more than 11 dB. Damping sound insulation felt could reduce the average drainage noise level by more than 8 dB, but its reduction of the maximum noise level was less than 3 dB. Therefore, when implementing pipeline noise reduction measures, it is recommended to consider the impact of the maximum drainage noise value.
