- Abstract:
- The high concentrations of organic matter and hardness in leachate concentrate are the primary causes of foaming, corrosion, and scaling in MVR evaporator equipment. In this study, flocculation combined with chemical softening was employed as a pretreatment to evaluate the removal efficiencies of organic matter, Ca2+, and Mg2+ from the concentrate. The results showed that under the conditions of a stirring rate of 60 r/min, stirring time of 20 min, pH of 5, and flocculant (SC-101L) dosage of 10 mL/L, the flocculation effect was optimal, achieving a COD removal rate of 77.63%. When the pH of the concentrate was adjusted to 12 and the Na2CO3 dosage was set at 120% of the theoretical dosage, the removal efficiencies of Ca2+, Mg2+, and total hardness reached their optimal levels, with removal rates of 92.93%, 99.97%, and 98.84%. The combined flocculation and chemical softening pretreatment significantly reduced the levels of organic matter, Ca2+, and Mg2+ in the concentrate. Production test results demonstrated that after the flocculation and chemical softening pretreatment for hardness removal, the processing capacity of the MVR evaporator for the concentrate increased by 50%, with a water production rate exceeding 80% and a concentrate production rate of 20%. These findings indicate that the pretreatment technology of flocculation combined with chemical softening for hardness removal is feasible and holds positive significance for mitigating scaling and corrosion in MVR evaporator equipment.
