The preloaded floc layer has the function of adsorption and interception. The removal of antimony (V) can be enhanced by preloading flocs on the surface of ultrafiltration membrane. The concentration of antimony (V) in effluent of coagulation/flocs preloaded ultrafiltration (CFPLU) process was less than 5 μg/L under different solid contents of flocs. Moreover, the removal rate of antimony (V)was as high as 97.29% when the solid content of flocs was 0.15%. The preloaded floc layer could be used as a barrier on the surface of ultrafiltration membrane to reduce the exposure of ultrafiltration membrane to pollutants and alleviate membrane fouling. This method provides a new idea for the disposal of excess sludge in waterworks, and it also realizes the utilization of resources.
