- Abstract:
- The outbreak of cyanobacteria bloom caused by eutrophication has become a significant water environmental challenge in our country. Current disposal methods for salvaged cyanobacteria include dry incineration, landfill, composting, and biogas power generation. However, these methods are associated with high costs, low resource utilization rates, and serious secondary pollution. These approaches are increasingly incompatible with modern environmental protection principles. Cyanobacteria are rich in organic matter and nutrients, such as protein and polysaccharides (cyanobacteria starch, cellulose), offering significant potential for resourceful utilization. Exploiting these resources can not only alleviate the burden of cyanobacteria treatment but also transform waste into valuable products. This paper summarizes the current research progress on the safe disposal and resourceful utilization of cyanobacteria, focusing on applications such as biofuel production, phycocyanin extraction, and organic carbon source manufacturing. These approaches can provide innovative strategies for cyanobacteria management while contributing to carbon emission reduction and carbon neutrality goals.
